American actor David Arquette celebrated his bar mitzvah today at the Western Wall under the watchful eye of the Western Wall Rabbi, Shmuel Rabinovitch. Arquette is currently in Israel to film a segment of the series he presents on the Travel Channel in the United States. While attending a bar mitzvah being held for a local boy in Jerusalem, it was suggested that Arquette should have his own coming of age ceremony, traditionally celebrated at the age of 13. Even though Arquette is 41 years old he was told that his bar mitzvah was ‘better late than never’, and he agreed.
Arquette, who is here as a guest of the Tourism Ministry and the Ministry of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs, will be visiting the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert to add these locations to his travelogue.
