For some kids, it’s fun going to the store with their parents to buy new clothes, shoes, notebooks, backpacks, and other school supplies. But it is different for children from Israel’s poorest families. They know they will head back to school in the same tattered clothes they wore months ago. They will carry their books to school in a plastic bag rather than a new backpack – or even an old backpack.
4Zion wanted to put a smile on these children’s faces just in time for the start of school! This morning, our staff traveled to an Ethiopian absorption center in northern Israel to distribute brand new back packs filled with school supplies to the children living there. The children were so grateful for their new bags – and we are grateful to you, our supporters, for making it happen.
